"[...] photographs are not like ruins, except in their constant reminder of the passage of time”.

OLIVARES, R; CANOGAR, D and SOLNIT, R (2006) Exit Magazine nª 24

Silencio is a project that deals over time through abandoned or disused spaces, using images taken with pinhole cameras. Through the silent and patient gaze of five pinhole cameras, the history, drama and beauty of places that have always subjugated me have been collected in the form of a book.

“The ruin has always been part of the memory of the past, [...] The ruin is presented as a synonym of transformation, of the presence of the past in the construction of the future [...] it is the ruin that was".

OLIVARES, R (2006) Exit Magazine, nª 24

The decision to work with pinhole cameras, made by me, apparently against the current technological era we are living in, has to do with the desire to delve into one of the essential aspects of photography, its relationship with memory and the passage of time.

One of the most gratifying characteristics of this project has been the possibility of turning technical errors into successes and of constructing a story out of the unexpected. Being able to overcome adversity and live a very enriching experience as a creator.

Winning project of the Cátedra Extraordinaria Autric Tamayo in 2017.
